Homemade Apple Fritters and Home Cooking at Applewood Farmhouse

When we were looking for things to do in Sevierville, we kept seeing Applewood Farmhouse pop up everywhere. So we knew it was something we had to check out.

It’s actually an entire experience with a restaurant and other shops and activities connected. Check out this video to watch some of the fun things we did on property before we ate at the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant.

After enjoying some wine tasting and shopping, we made our way back over to the Applewood Farmhouse to eat our dinner. Check out how that went here…

The restaurant is a well-oiled machine, y’all! You have a wide selection of country style entrees to choose from and they all come with their homemade apple fritters, an apple julep, a soup and salad, two side items, and a dessert. This all comes in at the very affordable dinner price of $18.99 for the most expensive entree.

Inside the Farmhouse Restaurant there are a variety of places to sit, including a section made like a patio with porch swings.

The homemade apple fritters were sweet and crispy on the outside with a soft, fresh apple flavor on the inside. They’re served with their homemade apple butter.

The apple julep had a refreshing lemonade like quality, and was a nice start to the meal.

Since the meals were so extensive, we’ll start with Joanie B.’s.

She started with a classic wedge salad with ranch and a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup. Both of which were delicious and a great beginning to the meal.

Her entree was the chicken and dumplings, which, after her first bite, reminded her of our Grandmother Riley’s chicken and dumplings. That’s a pretty hefty compliment!

For her sides she went with the fried okra and mac and cheese. The okra was fried to perfection and the mac and cheese was that delicious thick cheesiness without overwhelming your pallet.

When it was time for dessert she chose the apple spice cake, which was warm and felt like the holiday season in a dessert.

Jenni B. started with the same wedge salad with ranch, but chose the veggie soup instead. It was very light and filled with all of the veggie goodness like peas, carrots, corn, and potatoes.

For her entree she chose the fried chicken, which was absolutely delicious! It was half the chicken, lightly seasoned and fried until crispy. The outside had the perfect crunch and the inside was till juicy and tender (even on the breast).

Her sides were fried okra (yummy!) and green beans. Joanie B. ended up being more fond of the Italian style green beans and Jenni commandeered the mac and cheese.

Dessert was a tough choice. Normally Jenni isn’t a fruit dessert person, but she went for the apple cobbler and was shocked at how yummy it was. The crispy streusel on top went so well with the mushy, yummy apple center.

A very special thank you to Applewood Farmhouse for allowing us to come in and feature your amazing restaurant. We can’t wait to come back to Sevierville and dine with you again.
