Must Have Travel Essentials for Disney World [2024] || Road Trip Edition

We’re taking a much-needed vacay down to Walt Disney World in February. So, we’re sharing with you our must have travel essentials for Disney World. This will be the road trip edition since we’re taking our trusty Jeep Renegade from Middlesboro, Kentucky down to Orlando, Florida. That just means that we don’t have to pack light and can bring all of our favorite products.

If you’re flying to Disney World for your family (or solo!) vacation, all of these items should work in both checked luggage and carry-ons without too much alteration.

The Perfect Park Bag

You can’t spend a fun day in one of the four Walt Disney World parks without the perfect park bag to back you up. There are so many different ways you could go with this, but we’re bringing you our faves.

For Jenni, it has to be a backpack. She’ll actually be bringing the Selfie bag from Betsey Johnson, but that’s no longer sold (you can find some used options if you’re really into it). We did some research and found something very similar, just more simplistic, on Amazon. For the backpack, we want to keep it fairly small, but still big enough to hold our other essentials without overcrowding.

For Joanie, the choice is a crossbody. She’ll likely be taking one of our holy grail bags from Travelon. Our go-to crossbody is from their Heritage collection. It comes in a few different colors, but all feature the slash-proof fabric and locking zippers for added security. We’re OG fans of Travelon, and will forever and always recommend their products to everyone one we meet. They’re absolutely amazing and we know you’ll love them too!

A Plus Size Girly Essential

Jenni is a proud thick-thigh girly, and that means an anti-chafe product is an absolute must have for all occasions, especially when walking and shorts are involved.

The size, formula, and convenience of Body Glide have made it a favorite for any anti-chafe needs. One thing we will say is that it does sweat off after a while, so if you’re going to be walking around in the summer or even doing strenuous activity any other time of the year, bring it with you so you can reapply as needed.

Good Walking Shoes

If you’re going to be walking around the park from open until close, you’ll need some good (already broken in) walking shoes. Skechers is our brand of choice and, as of late, we’re big fans of the Skechers Slip-Ins. They’re super comfortable, durable, convenient since you can just slip your foot in, and can go with just about
any outfit.

Another great option from Skechers are their Go Walk series. They come in a variety of color-ways and are just as comfortable and durable as the Slip-Ins.

For winter travel, our go-to Skechers have been the Shindigs, but those are, unfortunately, not sold anymore. However, the Jammers - Say Goodbye seem to be fairly similar in appearance, but we haven’t tried them to know if they are a similar feel.

Collapsible Water Bottle

This is an essentials we’ve yet to purchase. We’ve been reading up and see that Disney has water bottle fill-up stations throughout the parks. This can save you time and money during your stay by preventing you from having to wait in lines and spend extra money for water at quick-service restaurants. We found this bottle by Opard that collapses down to almost nothing, and the reviews seem to think it’s a pretty solid choice.

If we don’t order our collapsible water bottle, we’ll be on the hunt at the hotel for a skinny, easy-to-pack-away water bottle for our park days. Bottom line: hydration is vital. We don’t want our trip to be ruined because we get sick over some dehydration. Drink your water, everyone!

Weather Protection

The options for weather protection are pretty broad. In the past we’ve done ponchos. You can either order disposable ponchos meant for a one-time wear or a more durable, reusable poncho. However, we’re taking our packable rain jackets we got from Walmart back in 2020 (pictured on Jenni, far right).

Walmart doesn’t sell this exact jacket anymore, but we did find a similar one on their website that comes in a variety of colors and sizes S-5XL.

The weather in Florida can be unpredictable, so just make sure you have some sort of weather protection for your trip.

External Charger

Picture this: you’re exploring the parks, taking as many photos as humanly possible, just trying to capture the magic of your family vacation, and then… you’re phone battery dies.

We’re aiming to avoid this scenario by bringing a few different external chargers. We have a couple of different external chargers. One of them is an awesome mega charger from Mophie. However, we found two great options on Amazon from Anker. One of them requires a charging cable (don’t forget that at home!). The other plugs directly into your iPhone for convenient charging.
